(Filed Under Wholesale Swimwear News). Anne Cole collection swimwear, a division of the New York City-based In Mocean Group, hired Sylvie Cachay as designer this December. According to the company, Cachay has more than 10 years of design experience. Most recently she constructed own collection, titled SYLA by Sylvie Cachay, and previously designed swimwear for Victoria’s Secret Direct, which is the company’s catalog and e-commerce division. She reports to Gary Silverman, executive vice president of Anne Cole collection swimwear.

“All of us at Anne Cole are pleased to have Sylvie join our team to design Anne Cole Collection Swimwear,” Silverman said. “Sylvie’s experience in the contemporary category and her artistic eye for distinctive prints, color and trim are the attributes we are looking for to move Anne Cole forward in design.”

“I am honored to be joining such an iconic brand, and we are all excited to start this new chapter with Anne Cole. Working with Anne Cole will give me the chance to grow as a designer,” Cachay commented. “We plan on bringing innovative design to our customers, while maintaining the true identity and spirit that Anne Cole swimwear has been renowned for all these years. We are recreating an iconic brand by designing winning swimwear that goes back to the true vision that Anne Cole had, with a trend-right twist.”

Cachay identified Anne Cole’s target age group as 35 to 50, but qualified that “we are focusing our attention towards a young attitude that represents today’s modern woman. She is on-trend and wears designer labels. Anne Cole will be an aspirational brand. Our customer is looking for distinctive design, a great fit—but at a reasonable price. This is consistent with Anne’s past customers’ demands.”

Currently, the company is working on its Early Cruise, Cruise and Spring lines for 2011, which will hit stores on September 25th, November 25th and January 25th, respectively. Separates and cover-ups will run in sizes XS through XL, and 1PC (fitting sizes 6 through 16). Cachay described the styling for the lines as “modern classic with a twist. We will be introducing some trend-right prints that are clean and graphic, with some Anne Cole classics such as mesh.” Although price points have not yet been finalized, she said “we are looking to stabilize retails and add value.”
