(Filed Under Fashion News). Since Gap, Inc. has its sights set on the international market these days through franchise agreements in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, it is not surprising that the company has hired Tom Keiser as its executive vice president and chief information officer. According to the company, Keiser is a “proven retail technology executive with significant experience building global platforms.” Most recently, he served as executive vice president and chief information officer for Limited Brands, the parent company of Victoria’s Secret.
“Tom brings with him a successful track record in the retail industry,” Glenn Murphy, chairman and chief executive officer of Gap, Inc, said in a statement. “Through his leadership of rolling out effective technology platforms that delivered solutions for employees, customers and stores around the world, he has consistently demonstrated how effective IT investments and execution can deliver business results.”
“I’m excited about joining Gap Inc. as the company executes on its plan to further expand online and internationally,” said Keiser. “And I look forward to leading the IT team to ensure we have the most effective infrastructure and platform to support this growth strategy.”
Gap, Inc. currently operates upwards of 3,100 stores under the Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic names, as well as online platforms for Athleta and Piperlime, along with its store-based brands. Its stores are located in the United States; the United Kingdom; Canada; France; Japan; and Ireland. Fiscal 2008 sales for the company were $14.5 billion.
