During the period ended January 30th, 2010, the company posted a 6.9 percent increase in same-store sales compared to the same period of fiscal 2008. Net sales increased 10.3 percent, to $2.54 billion from $2.30 billion.
Full-line same store sales increased 3.9 percent, while Nordstrom Direct sales grew 31.1 percent. The midwest, south and northwest were the best-performing regions for the full-line division.
Nordstrom Rack, the company’s off-price chain, experienced its fourth consecutive quarter of positive performance with same-store sales up 4.6 percent.
According to Nordstrom, Inc, the fourth quarter’s success was due to the breadth and quality of its merchandise offering, combined with a steady flow of fashion into stores, leading to a same-store increase during each month of the quarter.
