(Filed Under wholesale Shapewear News). Hank Spierer, president of Universal/Elena Intimates, is excited to present Skinny B, the company’s new continuing line of medium-to-firm compression shapewear. Included in the introductory collection—which will ship to stores on July 15—are 24 fashion styles and 24 basic styles, with basics available in five different skin tones to match women of all ethnicities. Styles are also available in shades of black, white and pink. Wholesale prices run from $5 to $12, and sizes from S through 3XL.
Spierer—known to many as “The Legend” of the intimate apparel industry, with 54 years of experience, and 21 spent running his own company—projects that Skinny B will bring in over $5 million wholesale during its first year. “We have already booked 300,000 pieces for delivery in July,” he said. Spierer’s confidence in the line stems from his confidence in the designer, who brings over 25 years of experience in intimate apparel design, production and merchandising to Universal/Elena Intimates. The company is targeting the moderate-to-better department store and specialty store markets, and expects Skinny B. to appeal to women of all ages, starting at the junior level.
According to the VP of Universal/Elena Intimates, best sellers in Skinny B are the Wear-Your-Own-Bra styles, which include a Torsette, Slip and Bodysuit constructed from a blend of nylon and spandex. Also exceptional sellers, he said, are styles in the reversible range. Reversible pieces offer two garments in one, with a basic nude side reversing to a fashion-forward floral lace pattern. It encompasses seven silhouettes including a half slip; tube dress; control brief; tank dress; cami; strapless top; and tank. Overall, he described the Skinny B line as “just phenomenal.”
While the Skinny B line includes ample basic styles, the company has focused a lot of attention on fashion, with silhouettes under this category designed to look more like lingerie or outerwear than shapewear, while still offering medium to firm compression. Of note is the Skinny B Fashion range constructed from Powermesh fabric with a matte elastic trim. The Underwire Contour Bodysuit in this range looks like a bustier, with its keyhole details and color-block pattern.
In future collections, the company plans to introduce edgier fashions for the junior market.
