(Filed Under Financial and General Interest News). Nordstrom kept the sales momentum up during the first quarter ended May 1, 2010. The company reported a 12 percent increase in same-store sales and a 16.7 percent increase in net sales of $1.71 billion. This success was the result of offering customers fashion, newness and quality, according to the company.
By division, same-store sales in the multi-channel avenue increased 13.7 percent. Full-line same-store sales and direct sales increased 11.7 percent and 38.7 percent, respectively. Same-store sales at Nordstrom Rack, though not as positive as full-line sales, still increased 1.9 percent.
The company expects same-store sales during fiscal 2010 to increase by 4 to 6 percent.
