(Filed Under wholesale Shapewear News). National Mill Industry, known for its hourglass corsets for the lingerie and bridal markets, is now offering women seamless bodyshaping for their lower halves. The New Jersey-based manufacturer, which produces garments under the Carnival Creations label, has introduced a line of seamless shapewear, consisting of a mid-way brief, high-waist brief, mid-thigh long leg and high waist-to-knee long leg. Available in shades of black and nude, styles wholesale from $13 to $16 and run in sizes M to 2X. They are sold as hanging or packaged garments.
According to Joey Cohen, vice president of National Mill Industry, the seamless shapewear is a natural progression for the company. “We have been going seamless in our corsets, and the seamless shapewear is an opportunity to make bottoms that can be sold with our tops, as well as independently,” he said. “In designing the line, we brought our corsetry expertise to the shapewear market. We focused on reducing inches, offering tummy control and lower back support. We added enhancing panels in the bottom to lift and shape. The overall effect is the same as that of our corsets: giving the woman a more flattering shape. The gusset is 100 percent cotton, so the shapewear can be worn as underwear, which gives the wearer a completely seamless, smooth look.”
Between five and six major retailers have picked up the line, including HerRoom.com, and Cohen expects others to follow suit shortly.
He added that it works well in the specialty lingerie and bridal markets. “It works in both the major and specialty store venues,” he commented. “Carnival Creations is in 3,000 specialty stores, and about 20 percent of those customers have already picked up the line.”
