(Filed Under wholesale Shapewear News). Shapeez has expanded into the western region with the addition of Penny Castle as sales representative. Castle is representing the shapewear brand west of Las Vegas, and will show its products at the San Francisco and Los Angeles markets this June.
The company continues to seek representation in the southeast region, which David Berner, vice president and chief financial officer, qualified as “from Delaware to Florida, and slightly west.”
In product news, the company’s Lacee collection of lingerie-inspired shapewear, which launched at the February 2010 CurveNY show, is currently shipping to stores. The company will open Lacee sales up to the direct-to-consumer channel by the end of this month.
According to Berner, retailers have expressed enthusiasm about the company’s latest innovation. “Everybody is saying it is so beautiful,” he said. “They are definitely stocking up for Christmas.”
Among those retailers who have picked up the Lacee are BareNecessities.com, Night and Day Lingerie in Andover, Mass., and Riley Blue in Amarillo, Tex.
Be it the success of the Lacee or the increasing publicity surrounding Shapeez, Berner said that sales have increased 400 percent since the start of this year from the previous year. “We were on the Today Show and the Wendy Williams show, and have been featured on the aol.com homepage,” he said. “As a result, our sales have been extremely strong. People say there is another economic slowdown happening, but not here at Shapeez.”
