Sears To Launch Rebecca Bonbon

(Filed Under Financial and General Interest News). Sears Holdings has entered into an agreement with FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) to launch Rebecca Bonbon sleepwear and other products at Sears and Kmart stores across North America. Created by Yuko Shimizu, the designer of the original Hello Kitty, Rebecca Bonbon is a Japanese animated French bulldog character popular among tween and teen girls.

Sears’ initial launch of the brand will encompass more than 320 products hitting stores this August 1 for Back-To-School. In addition to sleepwear, these products will include apparel, outerwear, headwear, accessories, bags, cosmetics, home décor and pet products. While targeting younger demographics, Sears also expects women to “appreciate both the iconic and fashionable nature of the brand.”

In Japan, Rebecca Bonbon has over 50 licensees producing merchandise including intimate apparel and swimwear, among many other categories. FME and Sears said they plan are planning a long-term strategy for the brand with new products already in development for holiday 2010 and spring 2011.
