(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). To accommodate the current economic status and price conscious consumers, Dana-co Apparel Group has changed its Josie line’s retail price structure, which will be in effect beginning with the Spring 2009 collection.
“The consumer is obviously more price conscious and will be more price conscious for 2009,” said John Bowman, president of the company. “By lowering our prices, it puts us in more direct competition with status brands such as DKNY and Bestsey Johnson, for example.”
The company has lowered retail prices by approximately 20 percent with prices ranging from $40 to mid-$50 as opposed to the $55 to $75 retail range.
In addition, the company has also shifted the percentage ratio of “fashion product” to “replenishable,” said Bowman. “In 2008, our line was probably 70 percent of what I would call fashion and 30 percent which I would classify as replenishable to an almost complete reversible: 30 percent fashion and 70 percent replenishable. This means that we ship it, then stock it and then continue to replenish it for the retailer in an ongoing basis,” he added.
For the Spring 2009 collection, daywear componentry will also be added to the Josie line, something not offered previously. Silhouettes include camisoles and pants. The collection will begin shipping in February.
