(Filed Under wholesale Mastectomy News). When Amanda Horan Kennedy started Sassybax, she was not targeting the mastectomy market, but that consumer still found the brand. In response to requests from breast cancer survivors and plastic surgeons, who told Kennedy that her original bra was comfortable and healing post-surgery, she introduced the Celebrate Life Bra at the CurveNY and CurveNV shows last month.
The seamless style, which is designed to hold prostheses, will retail for $60 at Sassybax.com, oncology centers, hospitals, medical supply sites and specialty bra stores that carry mastectomy products. It will be available in shades of nude, black and pink. Sassybax bras run in sizes S through 2X, fitting cup sizes AA through DD.
Kennedy was inspired to develop the Celebrate Life Bra as people she knew were diagnosed with cancer. “When Sassybax launched in 2004, my product was about fashion,” she said. “Now, with several close friends having had breast cancer and my sister surviving cervical cancer, I am very personally touched by the suffering that these women go through.
“According to the American Cancer Institute, about 207,090 new cases of invasive cancer occur in American women annually. One of the main reasons women love Sassybax bras is for the incredible comfort they provide; so we responded to breast cancer survivors who really need comfort for reasons having to do with their surgical scars and/or the debilitating effects of radiation.”
