(Filed Under Event News). On the evening of Tuesday, November 3, intimate apparel executives gathered for the Intimate Apparel Square Club’s annual H.U.G gala, this year honoring Maurice Reznik, president and C.E.O. of Maidenform, and Dr. Mathew Lee, M.D., former chairman of the Howard A. Rusk Institute of Pediatric Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center.
The annual New York City event—held this year at rooftop venue 230 Fifth Penthouse—benefits the Rusk Institute’s pediatric unit, and honorees are required to raise funds in support. According to organizers, Maidenform went “far and beyond” fundraising expectations, with efforts including an employee iPad raffle in support of the H.U.G awards; charity sample sales at each of the company’s domestic offices; and an “E-spot” on the Maidenform website encouraging customers to support the H.U.G and directing them to the IASC website. Additionally, the company reported that many of its employees donated individually to the cause.
Maidenform’s guest of honor was Janie Bryant, the Emmy award-winning costume designer for “Mad Men” and new wardrobe expert for Maidenform, who just published the style advice book “The Fashion File,” featuring advice on proper foundations and favorite Maidenform pieces. The company also arranged for comedian Ray Ellin to be the master of ceremonies for the event.
Also in attendance were additional Maidenform executives and staff members, as well as representatives from Wacoal; Carroll Textiles; Rago; TC Fine/Cupid; Macra Lace; Barry Ross Intimate Connections; Fair Lane Industries; and other companies. In addition to catered hors d'oeuvres, young women dressed in classic “Cigarette Girl” garb walked the event, their “cigarette” boxes filled with the more youthful treat of candy.
