(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). The Swimwear Association of Florida is opening its annual tradeshow up to lingerie.
The association will launch the Lingerie Show in conjunction with next July’s SwimShow, scheduled for July 16 through 19 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The company said it is entering lingerie in response to buyer and vendor demand.
“Due to the shifts in the global economy and the ever-changing structure of our industry, SAF believed that we needed to evolve our show based on the needs of our members,” said Judy Stein, organizer of Swimshow. “Our number one priority is to ensure a beneficial, productive and enjoyable experience for all our attendees. By adding lingerie to our show mix we are in effect saving our members time and money and giving them the opportunity to source more product.”
Perhaps SwimShow is entering lingerie to stay competitive in the current market, as tradeshows that are known for their intimate apparel selection have focused on swimwear in recent seasons. CurvExpo, for instance, tested swimwear events at this August’s CurveNV, culminating in a runway show dedicated exclusively to this category. The company said that, due to this initiative’s success, it will have a swimwear section at next February’s CurveNY. The MAGIC tradeshow in Las Vegas features the ISAM concept every August, which is dedicated exclusively to swimwear exhibitors.
Several of the vendors who exhibited at SwimShow this July make intimate apparel, including Panache, Mystique and Spanx.
