(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Curvy Kate is expanding its niche to slightly smaller-busted women by adding a D cup after testing the size on Style369.com, a plus-size Internet retailer.
The British maker of bras for full-busted women is introducing the D cup in all of its continuity ranges; including Princess, Emily and Portia, starting next March, and will include the size in all styles starting for the Fall/Winter 2011 season. Currently, Curvy Kate styles run in cup sizes DD through K.
According to Steve Hudson, managing director of Curvy Kate, as the company has expanded to new European territories the demand for the D cup has emerged. “FF and G cups are the most popular sizes for Curvy Kate in the UK but retailers in central Europe are demanding D cups to suit their smaller cup size market,” he said. “Although the average bust size is growing across central Europe, women’s busts still seem to be proportionally smaller that the UK’s. We’ve already received great feedback from our agents and distributors about this sizing move and are confident retailers will love this wider sizing option.”
Retailers can place orders for the D cup in continuity ranges immediately. The size is also available to consumers on Style369.com.
Curvy Kate bras and panties retail from approximately £5.30 to £30, equivalent to about $8 to $44 at the current exchange rate. Panties run in sizes British sizes 8 to 22, equivalent to U.S. sizes 6 to 20.
