(Filed Under wholesale Costume News). Jalem Getz has resigned from his position as C.E.O and president of BuySeasons Inc. to pursue other interests; the costume and party supply Internet retailer confirmed Monday.
Dan Haight, C.O.O of BuySeasons since 2004, has taken over as C.E.O and president. Haight, who has 20 years of retail and Internet experience, previously worked for Target, OfficeMaxx, NordicTrack and others.
Getz launched BuyCostumes.com, a costume website owned by BuySeasons, in 1999. Under his leadership, Inc. Magazine named the company one of the fastest growing in 2005 and 2006.
The momentum Getz set in motion continues following his departure, as evident by BuySeasons’ announcement last Tuesday that is expanding its corporate headquarters and distribution center operations in New Berlin, Wis. The company plans to grow its space by approximately 10,000-square-feet on a lot directly north of its current facility.
BuySeasons and its real estate partner WillowTree LLC said they have been working for months to arrange financing, solidify the specifics and obtain governmental approval for the expansion.
Construction for the additional space has already begun, and BuySeasons expects it to be complete next July: in time for the Halloween season. With it, BuySeasons expects to add 20 to 30 full-time positions in areas including distribution and manufacturing.
Haight described the expansion as necessary because of BuySeasons increasing success. “We are very fortunate that both our specialty party and costume businesses are very successful,” he said. “We need the additional space to grow into new categories in all celebrations, including holidays and graduations. We also need the additional space to handle seasonal Halloween inventory. That business continues to grow, both through BuyCostumes.com and through CostumeExpress.com [part of the Celebrate Express family of brands].”
