(Filed Under Fashion News). Adam & Eve’s healthy focus has paid off.
The retailer of sexy lingerie and adult products will be able to lower its employees’ insurance rates by almost 10 percent next year. According to the company, this will result in nearly $1,000 savings for many employees.
Tom Underwood, who manages Adam & Eve’s human resources department, believes the company’s wellness initiative started in 2007 has played a large part in lowering rates. “From biometric screenings and individual health assessments to swimming lessons, smoking cessation programs and our first annual 5K run/walk in October, our efforts have had a huge impact on employees’ insurance claims and overall health,” he said. “In addition, we were also fortunate to not have any catastrophic health claims in this past year.
“Since [starting the wellness program] we’ve seen drops in percentages of body fat (down 4.37 percent), body weight (down 4.22 percent), cholesterol (down 4.37 percent) and glucose levels (down 3.3 percent) in employees who participate in the program.”
Other wellness program activities include basketball, volleyball and horseshoe competitions.
In order to manage the program, Adam & Eve has worked with Triad Care Inc., a disease wellness management company led by Rich White, PharmD.
