(Filed Under Wholesale Swimwear News). An interesting surprise at the Espiral booth at the recent International Lingerie Show was the company’s just-introduced line of swimsuit costumes. Yes, the company, in what it admits is an experiment, is taking a very popular trend with sexy lingerie companies and applying it to a new category. Company owner Pablo Tobon told BODY, “it’s something I have not seen out there. I have not seen swimwear slash costumes.”
Wholesale prices for the small collection are about $20 for each two or three-piece set (some of which include with a wrap around). Offered are fully lined swim costumes depicting a schoolgirl, a gangster, a cop, a soldier in camouflage, a sailor and a lifeguard. Tobon noted that the costume trend is “something that is becoming more powerful,” perhaps powerful enough to float his new swim collection. He added that his line should be popular with the pool party crowd. “Some girls do not like to get into the water” at such events, he noted, and his suits might appeal to them.
Currently Espiral makes sexy lingerie and clubwear. “If (the new swim costumes) do well, maybe we will go into true swim suits.” He added, “in every catalog we try something new.”
