(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) will hold its annual “The Future of Fashion” runway show on Wednesday, May 4 at 4:30pm and 7:30pm at the John E. Reeves Great Hall in New York City, featuring designs by select fashion design graduating seniors. Although admittance is by invitation only, the evening show will be streamed live.

10 designers are serving as mentors and critics to student by visiting classrooms throughout the spring semester, including FIT alumni Calvin Klein, who also worked with last year’s students. Other critics include Carolina Herrera, Narciso Rodriguez and Norma Kamali, who is also an alumni. This team will ultimately select the garments they deem exceptional for special citation in all six categories, which consist of intimate apparel; knitwear; special occasion; sportswear; children’s wear; and accessories. Missing from last year is the menswear category, while accessories is new.

Six media professionals will decide which garments are included in the show, including Nina Garcia of Marie Claire and Kate Betts of Time Inc.

Once again, the designers selected for the fashion show who use cotton in 95 percent of their outfits will be eligible to win $2,000 from Cotton Incorporated. Winners will be selected in all categories except for accessories.
