Marks & Spencer Goes Carbon-Neutral

(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). British retailer Marks & Spencer claims to have launched “the high street’s” first carbon-neutral bra, meaning that the company produced it by neither contributing to nor reducing the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere.

The carbon neutral bra is launching in Autograph Leaves, which includes two bras, three panties and one set of suspenders. According to M&S, the Carbon Trust Footprinting Certification Company has calculated and independently certified the footprint of the collection.

The collection was produced in the company’s factory in Thurulie, Sri Lanka, which is equipped with low-energy lighting, a turf roof and an evaporative cooling system. M&S reported that the factory uses 40 percent less electricity than the traditional plant.

The Autograph Leaves is listed on the M&S website as “coming shortly.”
