(Filed Under Textiles News). The fifth annual Hong Kong Mode Lingerie/Interfiliere tradeshow (March 30 to 31, 2011) welcomed over 3,500 attendees, according to organizing company Eurovet in association with the Hong Kong Intimate Apparel Industries Association (HKIAIA). This was a slight decline from last spring’s show, which saw about 3,600 visitors.
Eurovet reported that 80 percent of visitors came from Asia, with an increase from Japan despite the recent earthquake and Tsunami. The company noted that more than 50 percent of visitors were C.E.Os, heads of purchasing or buying departments, or designers. Representatives from well-known companies were in attendance, including Abercrombie & Fitch; Lane Bryant; Hanesbrands; Spanx; Wacoal; JCPenney; American Eagle Outfitters; and Victoria’s Secret.
There were 170 exhibitors at the two-day show compared to 160 at last year’s, 39 percent showcasing fabrics, 26 percent accessories, 17 percent laces and 10 percent embroideries for intimate apparel and beachwear. 31 percent of these companies came from Hong Kong, 29 percent from China, 21 percent from Asia and 19 percent from the rest of the world.
