(Filed Under Fashion News). Van de Velde, a company that designs, produces and commercializes lingerie under its Marie Jo, PrimaDonna, Marie Jo L’Aventure, Marie Jo Intense and Andres Sarda brands, has announced a declaration of intent to close its production plant in Szekszard, Hungary, which employs 345 people.
The decision is based on the company’s plan to restructure production by transferring capacity from Eastern Europe to primarily Tunisia.
“Van de Velde will clearly strictly comply with all statutory procedures and, in the event of complete closure, negotiate a fair redundancy scheme with employees,” said a statement released by the company. “A small percentage of the workforce may be able to move to other production plants of the group (Belgium, Spain, Tunisia).”
