(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Netherlands-based lingerie brand Marlies Dekkers has won an copyright infringement case against fellow Netherlands-based brand Sapph.
Marlies Dekkers alleged that Sapph copied designs, including the company’s signature straps above the bra cups. A court in Utrecht, Netherlands compared 10 bra styles and three panty styles and deemed that Sapph’s products were too similar to Marlies Dekkers’.
"It’s good to know that you are protected as an artist by copyright," Dekkers said in a statement.
The case, which had been postponed several times, began in 2008. Sapph has been ordered to pay an undisclosed amount of damages to the Marlies Dekkers company.
The Marlies Dekkers brand, established in 1993, creates lingerie, loungewear, swimwear, accessories and men’s underwear.
