(Filed Under Financial and General Interest News). Gap Inc. will be opening its first Gap flagship location in Rome on July 30.
The store is a two-story, 14,000-square-foot location on Via del Corso in a premiere shopping district. It will offer classic men’s and women’s Gap apparel as well as GapKids and babyGap children’s items and GapBody intimate apparel, activewear and loungewear. "The opening of our first flagship in Rome, a city at the heart of arts and culture, as well as a top global tourist destination, is an exciting development in our European growth," stated Stephen Sunnucks, international president of Gap Inc.
The opening is part of the company strategy to go international with its classic American styles. Gap Inc. recently opened Banana Republic and Gap stores in Milan, Italy to enormous success and plans to open four additional stores in Italy before the end of 2011. Gap also launched an e-commerce site for European customers last year at www.gap.eu.
Gap Inc. currently operates more than 190 stores in the U.K., France, Ireland and Italy. Gap also has more than 180 franchise stores in 25 countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Australia.
