(Filed Under Financial and General Interest News). Delta Apparel Inc. has released the fiscal results of their second quarter period ended December 27, 2008.
The company reported net sales of $73.4 million, an increase of $4.6 million or 6.7 percent, from their second quarter period in December 2007. This was due to a 17 percent increase in the retail ready segment, up to $32.4 million from $27.7 million during last year's second quarter. The retail segment is comprised of the Soffe and Junkfood businesses. The Activewear segment, comprised of the Delta and Fun Tees segments, remained flat with reported sales for the period ended December 27, 2008 at $41.0 million compared to $41.1 for the same period last year.
Net sales for the six-month period ended December 27, 2008 were $168.8 million: an increase of $23.4 million or 16.6 percent. Net income for this year's six month period was $1.3 million ($.15 per diluted share) compared to a net loss of $4.4 million (or $.52 per diluted share) last year. For the fiscal year ending June 27, 2009, the company "reiterates its expectation for net sales to be in the range of $340 million to $360 million and earnings to be in the range of $0.70 to $0.90 per diluted share."see more
