(Filed Under BODY Photos). K+1% is a new period panty that emphasizes creative silhouettes and fashion colors. Launched in Japan in 2018, the brand is planning to exhibit at its first international trade shows this winter: Salon de la Lingerie in Paris and Curve in New York.

Owner and designer Kjoko Sudoh, who told BODY she worked as a fashion stylist in Tokyo for ten years, said she seeks to go beyond functionality with her “period-proof lingerie.” The idea is to focus is on a “woman’s feelings during” her period, while at the same time providing fashion and a variety of color choices.

The panties feature strategically placed velour tapes around the waist and legs, and these tapes are worked into the design of the matching bras. Soft velour fabric is also used throughout, “so very smooth and stretchy. Good for the sensitive skin during period.”

“Our collection is actually season less,” continued Sudoh. “You can wear any colors in any season. Now we have three basic colors,” to which are added limited edition colors. “This year we will release five limited colors. You can see these at Curve. Limited colors won’t be made again once they sell out.” There are three different panty designs, which are available in small, medium and large. The matching bra comes in one design and two sizes. Panties will sell in the U.S. and Canada for about $40, the bra for about $50.

To date K+1% is only sold in “five stores in Japan (Tokyo and Osaka) and our web store. But we don’t have any stores overseas.” She emphasized the top quality materials and Japanese manufacture as important selling points. She added she tries to keep prices as low as possible. “I want the young generation to be able to buy and wear these easily as well.”

Noting that Asian women have been using period-proof underwear for some time, Sudoh said she believes the world is now ready for her more fashionable approach. “So, I’m looking for the all kinds of the lingerie stores to sell our brand!!!”
