(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Lingerie and swimwear company The Lake and Stars has been making headlines due to its latest ad campaign consisting of photos of a lingerie-clad mother and daughter posing provocatively, which has met with controversy.

The ad campaign features a real-life mother-daughter duo wearing lacy bras, garter briefs, chemises and corselettes from The Lake and Stars’ latest collection. In the photos, the women are embracing and pressing against each other in poses that have elicited reactions from consumers, advertisers, parents’ groups and psychologists as being sexually suggestive and incestuous.

The Lake and Stars owner Maayan Zilberman stated that she was surprised at the negative reaction and that the campaign was not intended to titillate consumers.

The Lake and Stars is based in New York and is carried in high-end boutiques in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, Denmark, Saudi Arabia and the U.K., including Lille Boutique in Portland, Ore., Zovo in Seattle and Journelle in New York City.
