(Filed Under wholesale Shapewear News). (MAGIC Report) Yet another intimates company trying MAGIC (February 13-15) for the first time was Colfajas, the U.S. distributor for Colombian shapewear brand, Zaray. One inducement to choose MAGIC, according to Colfajas’ Jean Pierre Velez, was the assistance of Proexport (the Colombian government export group, which helps pay exhibition costs).
Several Zaray styles were interesting. First there is a group of shaping corsets that the company introduced last fall (and updates quarterly in collections of 12 pieces at a time). “The corset is made with a powernet shaper inside” said Velez, with the outside decorated in a variety of ways, to look like a traditional corset. The corsets have a suggested retail of $70 to $75.
Another interesting new item is a shaping garment with cutouts designed to enhance the buttocks. While this silhouette is one we have seen before from the South Americans, the Zoray design is updated by filling in the cutouts with powernet to provide a more even appearance.
Finally, Zaray has just introduced a large group of latex shapers, each of which wholesale for $10.27.
Zaray already sells the Zaray brand in the U.S. to a variety of stores, including Colombian specialty boutiques Colombia Jeans and Cali Caliente
Opening order minimum is $1000 for first time buyers, according to Velez, and orders ship from stock from his NJ warehouse. Weekly shipments from Colombia continually replenish the stock.
Colfajas also distributes the Salomé line of shapewear and the Lini’s Jeans line.
