(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Leonisa, the large Colombian-based producer, has plans to open its first store in the U.S., a flagship location, at the start of June. Located 30 miles northeast of Atlanta in the Mall of Georgia, the boutique will showcase both the company’s lingerie and swimwear.
In addition, the company, which only supplies a portion of its overall production to the U.S. market, has expanded its offerings in this country, according to Octavio Quintana, VP. The expansion is reflected by the growth of the company’s U.S. lingerie catalog (from about 70 pages last year, to 88 pages this year) and U.S. swim catalog (from 32 pages last year to 44 pages this year). In addition, the company, for the first time, is publishing two versions of its catalog, one directed at retailers, the other designed to be used by home-based sales people, selling to their friends.
Referring to the new store, Quintana said, “We are going to start with this one and see how it goes.” If things do proceed according to plan, he added, the company might have as many as 15 Leonisa boutiques in the U.S. within ten years. The Mall of Georgia includes such stores as Dillard’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, JCPenney, and Belk as well as 225 smaller units including Coach, A|X Armani Exchange, Banana Republic and Delia’s.
