(Filed Under Wholesale Swimwear News). The Miami SwimShow 2013 will celebrate its 30th anniversary with this year’s event (July 21-24, 2012), hosting “2,500 lines organized into well-defined sections for women’s, men’s and children’s, as well as for contemporary, juniors and more,” according to the Swimwear Association of Florida which holds the event.
Boasting that “SwimShow’s success has played a vital role in the explosion of the swimwear business in the U.S. and abroad,” executive director Judy Stein noted that Americans spent over $4.1 billion on swimwear in 2011 (figures from NPD) compared to $845 million in 1990 (figures from the Chicago Tribune, Jan. 13, 1992).
Now, according to estimates provided by NPD and cited by the association, “the average woman owns at least four swimsuits and purchases at least two new looks every season.”
Held in the Miami Beach Convention Center, SwimShow includes cover-ups, beach accessories, resortwear and activewear. Last year a LingerieShow section was launched. “Our fashion show allows every attendee to view trends presented by the entire swimwear industry,” added association president Diane Brucks.
