(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Camilla Blois, the great-great granddaughter of Lady Duff Gordon, a leading UK couturier, has launched a London-based lingerie company, Lucile Lingerie, that revives the Lucile Ltd. firm her relative operated from the 1890’s to the 1930’s out of offices in London, New York, Paris and Chicago. While the original firm offered a variety of apparel, the new company focuses on lingerie.
Lucile is offering two collections, The Duchess of Warwick and The Queen of Spain. Both "are inspired by two of Lady Duff Gordon’s most famous clients and feature sumptuous silks and feminine shapes that are reminiscent of the elegance, grace and sophistication that originally propelled the Lucile brand to global fame,” according to a company spokesperson.
“Lady Duff Gordon’s designs freed women from their restrictive corsets and underskirts when she introduced provocative, sheer undergarments that are similar to lingerie that is worn today. Camilla intends to uphold the ethos of the original Lucile label by maintaining the belief that luxurious lingerie is a powerful thing.”
Lucile pieces are all hand made in England in Lancashire and Derbyshire and are crafted “to make every woman feel like the royalty the garments were inspired by.” Lucile is available online at www.lucileandco.com, as well as in boutiques in the UK, Spain and the U.S.
The mid-thigh, “Short Length Kimono Gown” in silk georgette, edged with British-made lace and including a wide, long gold silk sash belt retails on the company website for £499. A silk chemise with French lace cups and back tie detail retails for £196. And the “Long Georgette Gown” with a long train, edged in British lace and sold with the long, wide gold silk sash retails for £695.
