Angela Newnam, the owner of Knock Out!, the new lingerie company and a Harvard Business School graduate (1996), has just won that school’s Alumni New Venture Contest and its $50,000 grand prize, for her success in launching the firm. The idea behind the company is to provide sexy, comfortable underwear for women and men that absorbs odor and wicks away moisture utilizing a patented “NoTrace” technology.
Quoted in an article in Harvard’s alumni bullitin, Newnam declared, “I like to think of our product as the software that protects your hardware,” adding, “entering the contest and presenting before the judges helped me to step back and define where I want to take my business.”
Knock Out! sold 20,000 units in its first year in business.
