(Filed Under wholesale Sleepwear News). California-based Birds Boxers, used to strictly offer boxers as a product, but the company has now announced it has entered a new business category and will begin offering a pajama set for the spring/summer seasons.
Known for its “luxurious” boxers, Birds has now announced an interest in spreading its horizons. “We’re trying to jump into a new category,” said Megan Papay, CEO of the company. “We want to be a unisex luxury loungewear company and we want to eventually produce cashmere hoodies and pants.”
For Papay, it was imperative to first perfect the company’s original designs, two styles of boxers, to her liking before jumping into a new category. “That’s the fun thing about our business, we’ve only been offering one product, so we scrutinize every detail.”
The pajama set, which will begin shipping around June of this year, is a long-sleeved top that features four buttons down the front and pockets. The pants will have an elastic waist band as opposed to a tie waist.
All styles are made from 100 percent pima cotton and are handmade in Peru. “Our theme is providing a very luxurious product, but something that will wear well over time. We’re really proud of the quality of our cotton,” said Papay.
In order to produce the perfect product, Papay explains that the company does a lot of competitive shopping from the best brands. “We study their garments and pick apart the best things they have to offer as far as fit quality, sewing techniques and materials,” she said.
The boxers are set at a wholesale price point of $35 and retail for $76. The pj set will be $150 wholesale and will retail at approximately $300.
