(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Zimmerli of Switzerland has a new, $186 cotton T-shirt. Well, that’s a bit of an oversimplification. The company describes the men’s shirt as a “certified Sea Island cotton deep v-neck shirt made in Switzerland.” The women’s version retails for $145.
According to the company, “Certified Sea Island is the rarest and most expensive cotton in the world. Sea Island is grown only in the optimal conditions of the West Indian Caribbean islands. This best-of-the-best constitutes only 0.0004% of the world’s cotton!” The shirt is available on Zimmerli’s website.
The 135-year-old firm, which calls itself “the world leader, by far, in luxury underwear for men and women” uses a variety of high-quality natural fibers (cotton, wool and silk), as well as man-made textiles including bamboo and Pureness micromodal. Zimmerli also produces socks (up to $200 for the “world’s finest” cashmere socks), and pajamas (up to $351 for men’s cotton styles). Men’s briefs retail from $55 to $116, shirts from $99. Women’s undershirts retail from $62 to $140, panties from $45 to $126.
The U.S. distributor for the company is CMK, headed by Cynthia Kelly, president and Russell Kelly, COO. The firm also handles Louis at Home, FineLines Australia and Barbara.
