(Filed Under wholesale Shapewear News). Julie France’s new lighter weight Léger collection of shapewear, first introduced at Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris in January, is now shipping to stores in the U.S.
“The retailer reaction to Léger has been extremely positive,” declared Mia Holtzman, sales and marketing manager. “Retailers are impressed with the high level of compression in Léger while being an ultralight shapewear garment. Léger has provided retailers with a shapewear solution to offer their customers who seek true compression garments as opposed to simple smoothers. Since Léger is constructed as a seamless foundation garment, it may be worn under virtually any outfit which is a great selling point for retailers. Additionally, Léger is sold at an extremely competitive price point making it the highest quality shapewear collection for all budgets,”
The Léger is not only lighter that the original Julie France shapewear, Léger also “is offered at a lower price point than the Regular collection,” said Holtzman. For example, the “High Waist Panty Shaper,” style number JFL04, wholesales for $14.25 in sizes small to XL (and $16.95 for larger sizes 1X,2X or 3X) and has suggested retail prices, for the two versions respectively, of $38.00 or $42.00. The “Cami Dress Shaper,” style number JFL16, wholesales for $21.50 in sizes small to XL (and $22.75 for larger sizes 1X,2X or 3X) and has suggested retail prices, for the two versions respectively, of $60.00 and $62.00. The “High Waist Slip Shaper, style number JFL18, wholesales for $19.00 and has a suggested retail price of $48.00.
Julie France launched Léger because it “wanted to offer an innovative, ultralight shapewear garment that provides the highest amount of compression available,” explained Holtzman. “By using finer, softer yarns, Julie France Body Shapers created Léger, meaning “light” in French. The finer, softer yarns allow the shapewear garment to be ultralight, breathable and comfortable while using ultra-high compression to shape and slim the body.”
For the consumer, “The main difference between Léger and Regular is the level of compression. Léger is considered a high level compression garment and Regular is considered a medium level compression garment. The wearer will be able to feel and see the difference in shaping capabilities between the two levels of compression. Additionally, Léger was designed for warmer climates.” The sales executive added, “Both Léger and Regular are made using microfiber fabrics. The yarn used for Léger is finer and softer, creating an ultralight garment.
In addition to new, lighter, higher compression versions of the Regular line, Julie France has added a new silhouette exclusive to the Léger collection. The “Frontless Panty Shaper” style number JFL00, which wholesales for $19.50 (sizes S to XL) and $21.50 (sizes 1X, 2X and 3X) and has suggested retail prices, for the two versions respectively, of $48.00 and $54.00. Another new addition for Léger is a display rack. “The Léger collection is packaged in bags which may be set on a shelf as the base expands or may be hung on a peg from the top of the bag. To offer our retailers a sleek and easy way to display the product, we now sell the 4-tiered revolving display rack. The rack can easily accommodate 25 pieces of Léger per tier, allowing space for approximately 100 pieces of product.”
The new Julie France Body Shapers catalog, which includes both the Léger and Regular collections, will be released in two weeks.
In other news, Julie France recently hired Amanda Thomas as product manager for shapers. “Thomas graduated with a B.S. in Merchandising/Marketing and a minor in business from Florida State University,” said Holtzman. “With her experience in retail, brand management, merchandising, and corporate strategy from big box department stores, Thomas will drive the Julie France Body Shapers brand in product and marketing management.”
