(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Shirley of Hollywood’s new Holiday Collection “has just been released and corsets are big-big part of it,” according to Eric Schlobohm. “If anyone missed it there was some interesting news from ebay and the BBC, that there has been a 185% increase in corset sales worldwide the last three months, with the USA, UK and Australia taking the lead.”
The Shirley executive emphasized that of the “over 80 new Holiday styles, encompassing chemises, baby dolls, bra and panty sets, 15 of them are brand new corsets.” Highlights of the corset collection include “a satin, strapless number, #26902, with beaded appliques and pearl swags, lace cinching lace up back, metal busk and slimming boning throughout. Another gorgeous standout is an eyelash lace corset adorned with jet black faceted rhinestones, covered suspender garters, that are removable, style #25997.”
Yet another strong corset, according to Schlobohm, is “a new, edgy satin skull and chains corset with exposed spiral metal boning, style #25998. Our design team really has a blast at holiday getting into more fun embellishments and trims, and we offer most styles in missy and plus sizes, from size 32 to size 44, or small to 3x.”
The Shirley story began in 1948 with Herman Schlobohm was “selling notions and supplies to the bra and corset industry in New York. Taking his trade west to California, he started National Corset Supply House, a family business that grew to include sons Jon in 1960 and Roy in 1961,” according to a company history provided by Schlobohm. “After years of manufacturing lingerie components, the Schlobohms decided to put the pieces together and manufacture their own lingerie in 1966. Four years later, they purchased the “Shirley of Hollywood” name from a retiring customer and expanded their product line to include corsets, bustiers, babydolls, chemises, bras, panties, thongs, stockings, pajamas, lounge wear and more. With Roy overseeing production and design and Jon handling operations and finances, the company continued to expand and innovate, adding new products and new collections in demand from coast to coast.”
“The 1980’s brought the third generation of Schlobohms into the family business. Dana Schlobohm-Walczuk took over Design and Marketing; Eric Schlobohm, Sales; Kirk Schlobohm, Quality Control and International Production; and Ron Schlobohm, Domestic Production. Today, the Shirley family includes more than 100 employees, most long-term. With a talented design team and state-of-the-art sewing facilities in the U.S. and abroad, Shirley has become a premier provider of sexy lingerie and loungewear, bringing the magic and mystique of Hollywood to women everywhere.”
