(Filed Under wholesale Shapewear News). Olga Barrios, the sales manager at Equilibrium, recently revealed to BODY the most popular shapewear styles in her line. The “number one seller” this year is a Powerflex and cotton “body panty” that rises to just under the breasts, style number C4150, available in nude, black and violet (a new color the company introduced this year that is designed to be invisible under even light colored clothing). Wholesale price is about $22 (FOB Colombia) and it is has a suggested retail price of $79.
In all, Equilibrium sells 70 styles of Colombian-made shaping garments as well as a line of jeans, and ships from Colombia and a warehouse in Chicago. The brand is about ten years old, and first exhibited at MAGIC two years ago, at which time we met Barrios.
Interviewed again at the most recent MAGIC in Las Vegas, the sales manager said she is finding success “Focusing on real women.” Indeed, the company slogan is “For Real Women Like You,” which means, if you use the photos on their web site as a guide, women with lots and lots of curves. The company sells in U.S., Spain and other parts of Europe, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Canada. “We don’t sell one piece in Colombia,” Barrios claimed.
Another “really new style that has been amazing, in terms of sales,” she continued, “is C4142, (a high waist push up panty). It does not have any zipper, no hooks, no lines. But it makes a really nice shape to the hips for dresses.” The shaper starts high on the thighs and comes up under the breasts. “This one is crazy in sales. Everyone, even from Europe, buys it. The main point is the hip line. Even if a woman does not have a big butt, it looks like she does. A big one. Really amazing. The waistline looks smaller. Measurement could be one to three sizes less.” The wholesale price of this shaper, in Powerflex and cotton, is $12.50, she said, with a suggested retail of $58.
Other best-sellers include C4160, a one piece girdle that starts just above the knees and has a high back and shoulder straps (with a suggested retail price of $107) and C4410, a “shaping dress” in Lycra and Powerflex, designed to be worn under skirts and dresses, with a suggested retail of $79.
