(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Signalling a desire to aggressively find new retailers for its full and half slips, Gemsli attended the New York Curve show for the first time last August, and has expanded its collection to offer a wide variety of styles, lengths and sizes, as well two tiers of pricing. Interviewed at the show, a spokesperson explained that slips, while not often receiving much attention in the media, now represent a category “which is in great demand.”
Gemsli is a five year old division of Little Gems, Inc., a Monroe, NY-based producer of sleepwear, loungewear, sportswear and “some kids apparel,” that was founded in 1997. The lower-priced collection in Nylon “starts as low as $8” wholesale, and is sourced in China to meet the firm’s “high quality standards.” A variety of styles and colors are available, many trimmed with lace. A second collection is produced in Italy, with wholesale prices in “the low to mid $20’s.” The half slips come in a variety of lengths, from 16 to 36 inches. Sizes range from “extra small to 3X.”
The firm also produces “fine cotton briefs” in a variety of colors including black, white, nude, plum and rose
We saw the company’s “shadow, tone on tone [diagonally] striped half slip with novelty lace, cling free” in a 28 inch length retailing for $54.79 on the Sear.com web site. On NY.Lingerie.com, Gemsli’s “satin pleasure, satin half slip with novelty lace, cling free” retails for $49.00 to $52.25.
Gemsli claims not to retail, only to wholesale. To retailers the spokesperson declared, “We are going to be your partner we are not going to be your competition.” She continued, noting store owners “get very excited,” when they discover this new resource.” It is “hard to find a company that manufactures such a variety of slips with such beautiful quality” that is fully stocked. “Welcome back slips,” she smiled, referring to the renewed demand in this category. “Customers keep asking for slips.”
