The new collection of accessories includes hook and eye closures with stronger fittings, enhanced underwires and clips, non-sliding bra straps, the use of softer and more comfortable materials in the backing of the hook and eye fasteners and easier to use hook and eye designs including front closure hook and eye models.

In an e-mail message to BODY, Simon Schier at Prym said the new collection was created in response to numerous statistics showing that a growing number of women around the world are overweight and that breast sizes are increasing. He wrote, quoting from a 2008 survey conducted by Mintel, a market research company, which “found that the most frequently worn size in America is a 14” and added that statistics “show that 64% percent of American women are overweight,” the average weighing more than 164 pounds. He wrote that a similar situation exists world wide, adding that breasts are becoming larger throughout the western world,” as well as in Asia. He noted that “the average bra size in the UK is now already a 36C,” compared to 34B a decade ago.”

Prym Intimates has a variety of facilities in Europe, Hong Kong, China and Sri Lanka.
