Affinitas: Parfait Created For Plus Size Consumers

(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Asked if he too believes American consumers are getting larger, Ken Zhang of Affinitas and Parfait answered, “Yes, we have been seeing this trend as well. In fact, the Parfait brand was developed due to increasing requests from the retailers for larger sizes. In response to the retailers requests, the Parfait full bust line was launched in Fall 2010 in sizes 30-40 D-G. To expand the size range even further, in August 2013 we will be shipping three of our “all time best selling styles” up to “K” cup.” The lines included are the “Charlotte Padded Bra, Sophia Wire Bra and Alexis Babydoll, to include GG,H,HH,J,JJ,K,” he explained.

The comments from Zhang are included in our survey on the plus size intimates market, included in the July edition of BODY.

Overall, the new plus styles have been well received. “Parfait is a great success for our company and the perfect companion line to Affinitas. It’s very important to our business to have a product size range that is essential to young girls as well as mature ladies in fit, styling, comfort and price. There truly is something for everyone!” He continued, “When we launched the Parfait full bust line three years ago, we felt it was extremely important to give the brand its own identity/catalog. Since then, we have continued each season to create a catalog for Parfait and a separate catalog for Affinitas, which is focused on regular sizes 30-38 A-DDD cup.”

In addition to the new brand and catalogs, Zhang has “significantly increased our marketing and advertising dollars to increase our presence in the full bust segment. We use full bust models in our catalogs, advertising and at all shows. Nothing showcases a product like a perfect fit and you accomplish this by using models in the size range the product is designed for.”

Reaction from stores has been gratifying. “Retailers continue to tell us the importance of and demand for larger sizes. Full bust/full figure woman want comfortable and stylish bras, panties, camisoles and babydolls,” Zhang said. “As the plus size market continues to experience growth, we plan to continue to develop products that meet the demands and desires of the full bust/full figure female.”
