(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Danny Golshan, at one time one of the owners of the now defunct Biatta, has just launched a new collection of lingerie, shapewear and dresses: Contorno.
Golshan, who said he sold his interest in Biatta lingerie in 2007, several years before its demise, told BODY that American Lingerie is the parent company to the new brand. Contorno (an Italian word meaning contour, as in the outline of the body) encompasses a varied collection of apparel, many pieces of which include particularly attractive and unique design details. Most are intended to shape the body in one way or another. (See the cover of this issue for an example of one style we liked). The idea of the brand is to shape the wearer but still make her “look very sexy and elegant,” he explained.
The styles range from shaping boy shorts and bodysuits to “shapewear leggings,” bras, panties, dresses and lingerie dresses, girdles and shaping slips. At the launch last month there were 55 styles, “40% shapewear, 40% lingerie and 20% dresses.”
Why is he returning to intimates? “Because I absolutely love it. And I see a niche,” he said of providing elegance and fashion in the shaping category.
Golshan claimed Biatta peaked at $20 million in annual sales and declared he plans to build the new company to an even greater size. The Contorno’s website is: contornolingerie.com. Golshan can be reached at dgol@contornolingerie.com or 424-278-1810.
