(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Arensky is a four-year-old Brazilian lingerie and swimwear company that was recently purchased by Osvaldo Rossi and is taking steps that that prove it is becoming a viable choice for American retailers. There is now a U.S. office in Connecticut, and the firm has started exhibiting at trade shows, the most recent of which was CurveNV in Las Vegas.
“We want to do something different from what is available here,” explained Rossi, who purchased the company in February. “Something beautiful that has different colors, different lace.” He added that his collection reflects “the happiness” of Brazil. Arensky contains a variety of styles, from somewhat conservative to sexy, with an emphasis on the latter.
Leticia Machado, the company’s fashion director, described Arensky as “a true Brazilian brand with a true Brazilian style. That’s our roots. We were all born in Brazil,” she added, motioning to Rossi and other members of the Curve booth staff. In Brazil, she continued, “we are comfortable with our bodies,” which can translate into the wearing of sexier styles. “We are sexy, curvy people. We are comfortable in our own skins, whatever size we are.”
Wholesale prices for the collection are moderate. A set at the lower end is $20, with many others in the mid-$30’s on up to about $44. We saw a babydoll and panty set wholesaling for $30.50. One robe was $57.
The primary market for the company has been Brazil, but Rossi insisted he was anxious to make the U.S. market a big part of the company’s future. To this end, Machado maintains the company’s office in Connecticut.
According to Rossi, the firm has 80 employees in Brazil and has the capacity to produce 18,000 sets per month. He estimates sales this year could hit $5 million.
