(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). The 12th annual MareDiModa, the international swimwear, beachwear and lingerie fabrics and accessories festival in Cannes, France, reported a 3 percent uptick in visitors during its run on Nov. 5-7, 2013, at the Palais des Festivals.

MareDiModa points to a renewed interest in buying European and Euro-Mediterranean-area textiles to produce mid- to high-range garment lines, citing more buyers from the U.S., Russia and Turkey than years past. The majority of visitors hailed from France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

The amount of visitors exceeded expectations, according to MareDiModa President Marco Borioli. He added that he hopes visitors took in the mission of the fair, which is to support European producers and the use of quality fabrications in all brands of swimwear and intimate apparel, ideally moving away from the “low-cost” fabrication options saturating the market.

The extensive list of exhibitors at this year’s festival included CIM ITALY SRL, Création Robert Vernet, Dogi International Fabrics SA, Eurostick SpA, Groupe International de Lingerie, Muehlmeier Bodyshaping GmbH and Santoul SA, among many others. The fair also featured contests for up-and-coming students in the industry, as well as forums on innovation and branding.
