(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). According to a well-placed source, Hubert Lafont, directeur général of the French lingerie producer Barbara, will be leaving the firm at the end of this week.
At this time it has not been leaned who will be replacing him or where he is heading. An emailed request to him for confirmation and information had not been answered as of Tuesday night.
Lafont guided Barbara through a difficult period in the past several years. Founded in France in 1926 as a producer of elastic fabrics, it began making bras in 1980 and eventually went through separate rounds of re-financing and ownership change. In June, 2010 Barbara was acquired by Korean lingerie maker Namyeung Vivien, which injected substantial cash into the business. More recently the brand was re-introduced into the U.S. market after an absence of some years.
Earlier in his career Lafont had worked as directeur commercial général at Chantelle.
