The fifth edition of CurveNV, held at the Venetian in Las Vegas February 16th through the 18th, welcomed 1,764 buyers this year, an 11.9 percent increase over the previous fall/winter collections a year ago, said Laurence Teinturier, executive vice president of CurvExpo.

According to Teinturier, over 150 national and international brands presented their fall/winter collections at this year’s show, drawing in quality buyers from the entire West and Canada.

“In general, both shows were better than expected in attendance,” commented Teinturier regarding CurveNV and CurveNY. “Real buyers and new buyers showed up, [but] it is obvious that the West coast market shops Las Vegas because of travel expenses constraints. In New York we noticed the reduction of number of buyers per company visiting for the same reason.”

The categories presented included: corsetry; foundations; daywear; homewear; loungewear; nightwear; shapewear; resort and beachwear; swimwear; men’s underwear; hosiery; maternity fashion; and slimming and support garments.

A highlight of this year’s show was Josie Natori’s invitation for cocktails on Monday February 16th, where the designer interacted with buyers discussing her new lines of foundations and sleepwear.

In addition, a seminar entitled Navigating the Storm, held Tuesday February 17th, was planned to last 40 minutes originally, but went on for an hour and a half. Buyers asked questions and made observations to the panel, which included major brands such as Chantelle, Wacoal, Cosabella and three store owners.

On the penultimate day, a fashion show held at Blush in the Wynn Hotel featured brands such as Zinke Designs, Bravado! Designs, Julie France, Donna di Capri, Flibustine, Croin, Janine Robin and Eveden.

The sixth edition of CurveNV will be held August 31st through September 2nd.
