(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Executives at Black Fuchsia are reporting strong sales for its strappy “cage back bras” and matching panties, a collection that it launched several months ago and is now rapidly expanding.

Between the bras and matching bottoms there are already a couple of dozen styles in the line which began with a single item.

According to lead designer Yelena Plotkin, the styles include basic bras as well as “some fashion bras.” The company is also adding a great many new colors. “We are getting a very good reaction,” she continued. “We are really expanding the category like crazy.”

Asked to name some currently popular color combinations, Plotkin listed “black and white;” “soft beige with black. [It] worked very well;” and “yellow with ivory.”

In addition to adding more colors, Plotkin said she is also “adding a lot of front closure bras.” Versatility is important. “All of the bras [can be] worn several ways” and straps can be removed.

Elie Zaccai, a sales executive at the firm, confirmed the cage backs were doing well. “They love the cage back. We can’t keep it in stock. Whatever I have on order is pretty much pre-sold. They don’t see the inside of my warehouse.”

Zaccai believes the strappy styles “will continue well into spring. It will be strong through Valentine’s Day and will continue into spring.” He said that the company will be adding “more spring colors. I even see expanding into some bandeaus and obviously the panties. Now we have a few thongs coming in with the cage back.”

The cage back look is carrying over into “sexy sleepwear as well,” said Zaccai, and the company is adding “a couple of body suits.”

The strength of the cage back group has been a boon for Black Fuchsia. “This collection is opening doors for us. We are showing ... retailers something they don’t have. It’s always a good way in."
