(Filed Under wholesale Costume News). French fetish designer Patrice Catanzaro reported an enthusiastic reaction so far for his first ever, Halloween collection (introduced earlier this year), even though the company has not yet approached some of the most obvious potential retailers.
“For the moment we do not work with costume stores yet,” explained a spokesperson. “But our fetish and lingerie stores clients love this collection. As this is our first Halloween collection, we rely on next ILS (International Lingerie Show) in September to find a new American client type. Our creations can also be sold in lingerie stores and fetish stores all over the year, as they are established on classic fetish themes: the French maid, the nurse, the lion tamer…”
Catanzaro, who has been exhibiting at the ILS for several seasons, realized “the enthusiasm of American people to celebrate Halloween,” and so “really wanted to create something very special for Halloween 2014. The USA loves Halloween and we love the USA, so we are willing to take part to this important event, and even to re-orient the European market in the same direction.” So far “In France Halloween is developing little by little, but is still “trembling.” We feel a growing [desire] to celebrate it all over the country and even all over Europe and we try to spread it among our clients...The whole Halloween collection has been created especially for the US market (even though we offer it in Europe and Asia too). The American people have that love of life, of celebrating, that we love.”
Although Halloween costumes in the U.S. are often relatively inexpensive, Catanzaro is not planning to go in that direction, according to the company source. “Even if it’s a Halloween costume collection, we’re offering the same quality, the same know how, and the same design as for usual collections. And the most important is that we are treating classic fetish themes. This is an timeless collection that can be worn for any occasion, not only Halloween. So the higher price can be justified by the fact that they are not one shot costumes, they are both high quality costumes and fun styles. Pleasure has no price!”
“The concept of this first Halloween collection is to offer renewed classics,” the spokesperson explained. “The classic nurse white coat and hat are revisited to become a black dress with a mask, giving some kind of darkness and originality to the style. Cat woman is embellished with Swarovski crystals. It gives every style a little Catanzaro touch, both modern and fetish. When putting those costumes on, you become another character, and you can tell a story.”
Wholesale prices for the new Halloween collection range from $13 to $115.
