(Filed Under Financial and General Interest News). December sales at Victoria’s Secret stores in the U.S. and Canada rose 3% in December 2014 when compared to the same month in 2013. Meanwhile, Victoria’s Secret direct sales dropped 1%.
As a whole, parent company L Brands, Inc., which also owns the PINK, Bath & Body Works, La Senza and Henri Bendel stores and brands, did better during the period.
L reported “net sales of $2.207 billion for the five weeks ended January 3, 2015, an increase of 5 percent, compared to net sales of $2.098 billion for the five weeks ended January 4, 2014. Comparable store sales increased 4 percent for the five weeks ended January 3, 2015.” Overall, the company now operates “2,975 company-owned specialty stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and its brands are sold in more than 600 additional franchised locations worldwide.”
The company also repored that for the 48 weeks ended January 3, 2015 it registered net sales of $10.671 billion, “an increase of 6 percent compared to net sales of $10.042 billion for the 48 weeks ended January 4, 2014. Comparable store sales increased 4 percent for the 48 weeks ended January 3, 2015.”
Between the dates of February 1, 2014 and January 3, 2015, L Brands has increased the number of Victoria’s Secret stores in the U.S. from 977 to 985, while increasing the number of PINK stores from 83 to 115. During the same period it increased the number of Victoria’s Secret stores in Canada from 24 to 31, while at the same time decreasing the number of La Senza lingerie stores in Canada from 157 to 146. It also expanded the number of Victoria’s Secret stores in the U.K. from 5 to 10.
