(Filed Under wholesale Plus Size News). “Curve & Co. is a plus size brand on a mission to bring beautiful and comfortable undergarments” to customers, explained Paula Gamboa, one of the co-founders. The Colombian firm, established in February, will exhibit at Curve in New York in August.
Gamboa and partner Santiago Aparicio created Curve & Co. to serve the needs of larger women “tired of being ignored by major Latin American lingerie brands,” she continued. “We believe that the beauty standards set by the industry are completely wrong, unachievable and damaging for women all around the world. We are on a mission to show the world that real beauty is not about how you look but how you feel about yourself,” she added, confiding that she herself is curvy. “You should feel, proud, sexy, and comfortable within your own skin, and that’s what we want to achieve with our products for all the curvy women around the world.”
Asked if the company is backed by an existing firm, Gamboa replied, “No. We are an independent brand brought to life by two friends in a mission to challenge the status quo of the industry, developing, designing and selling lingerie ONLY for the curvy woman.”
So far the brand is only available in Colombia, “but later this year we will open our online store, and we are hoping to develop the brand in both Mexico and the USA.”
The Curve & Co. line is divided into three collections: “Dazzling, Fashion Basics and Stunning. Each of them has 10 products between bras and panties,” explained Gamboa. Suggested retail prices in the U.S. are expected to be $25 for bras and $16 to $19 for panties, “depending on the model.”
“Our business model is based upon B2B distribution via strategic alliances with department stores and boutiques. As for the online channel,” she continued, it “is exclusively managed by us.” So far the company does not have a U.S. sales agent or independent sales reps. “We actually have a few candidates, but we are still looking.”
