(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Attendance at the just-completed Paris Mode City (July 4-6) dropped significantly in comparison to recent years, while at the sister Interfilière textile show, visitor attendance remained even.

This year the show reported “around 14,000 professionals” visited the show, compared to 15,258 last summer. Ever since the show moved from Lyon to Paris in 2011 over 15,000 visitors have attended. About 10,500 visitors were reported at Interfilière this year.

The show reported 72% of its visitors were from outside of France, with the highest numbers (in descending order) from Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Hong Kong, the U.S., China, Russia and the Netherlands. The number of visitors from the U.S. was in seventh place this summer. Back in 2010, when the show was last held in Lyon, the U.S. was in 5th place.

Show management gave special mention to “a rise in the number of buyers from Ukraine, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates.”

One change for this show was a raised entrance walkway which allows an overhead view of the layout and deposits buyers to the center of exhibition space.

In addition, show management reported, “The Interfilière Paris 30th anniversary soirée brought together all the lingerie and beachwear professionals on the docks of the Seine in Paris. The ‘Happy Colour’ and white-themed evening will long be remembered. Another highlight was a magical media event at the Molitor Hotel organized by Mode City. The retrospective of iconic swimsuits from 1890 to 1950 also included a presentation of swimwear brands’ top 2016 designs. To celebrate the date (July 5th, 1946) of the introduction of the first bikini by Louis Réard at the Molitor swimming pool, Mode City thrilled the audience with a media-savvy fashion show special event under a bright, sunny sky.”

Popular features of the show included the Limited Edition exhibitors section, the Trends Forum at the trade show entrance and a photo booth project.

Mode City runway shows included three daily presentations. “For the first time, two special fashion shows combined the show’s lingerie and swimwear offer, and their imaginative settings and fantastic staging delighted the audience.”
