C&C California Lounge, Sleepwear By Gelmart

(Filed Under wholesale Sleepwear News). Gelmart International, best known as a bra and panty producer, has just acquired the C&C California license in the sleep, lounge and thermal categories.

President and CEO Yossi Nasser admitted the move marks an important new direction for the company. “It is. However we do feel that it is complimentary to our core value proposition,” he wrote in response to email questions from BODY. “We love the brand appeal, and felt that signing this license will benefit our diversification efforts substantially.” While the company does have experience producing lounge and sleep, Nasser expects the new license to significantly expand these segments at his company. “We are hoping these categories will represent at least 25% of our business by end of 2017.”

On its website, Gelmart explains it currently “supplies private label and branded product to some of the world’s largest retailers, including Walmart, Kmart, and Sears, as well as to specialty stores such as Avenue and Lane Bryant. In addition, Gelmart has a strong catalogue business and online presence throughout the U.S.” On the site the company also prominently displays the logos of Amazon and Maidenform.

Gelmart has already started showing initial samples to customers and “people are really drawn to the product,” said the CEO. “We are planning to speak to several department stores on the launch of the collection.” He expects to start shipping “early summer/back to school 2016.” Nasser is starting “with eight different styles” in each of the categories sleep, lounge and thermals. “Retails will range from $40 - $75 at department store.”

The parent brand, C&C California, describes itself on its site as a “fully developed women’s contemporary sportswear collection” focusing on fabrications “including buttery French terry, soft, comfortable, cool, knits and chambrays; to express a balance of refined, sophisticated, yet comfort of California.” The brand was founded in 2002 and currently lists retail customers that include Amazon, Bloomingdale’s, Zappos.com, Bon-Ton, Dillard’s, Lord and Taylor, Nordstrom, and Revolveclothing.com.

Nasser wrote, “We are definitely planing to follow the format of the above stores,” in placing his offerings. He added he hopes to aggressively grow the brand at Gelmart, projecting “$20m in wholesale sales by 2019” on a annual basis. Contact phone for Gelmart is (212) 743-6900.
