(Filed Under wholesale Sleepwear News). Julie Zipperer, co-founder and former vice president of sales at Scanty, is starting a new women’s sleep and loungewear company called Maxey. Zipperer departed from Scanty in January 2009, and has also worked for PJ Salvage. She will debut Maxey’s first collection for fall at this May’s Intermezzo Show.

Zipperer is gearing the 80’s inspired, “upscale and on-trend” collection toward better department and specialty stores, including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales. Retail prices will range from $45-$48 for lounge pants to $90 for pajama sets at sizes S through XL. Knit fabrics include cotton, cotton/modal tissue jerseys, and streaky vintage over-dyed fleece paired with bold “80’s” shades like electric blue and fuchsia. Also present are tie-dyes, spray washes, printed plaids and yarn-dyed flannels embellished with screen print designs. Designed to promote “comfortable living,” styles include solid and printed lounge pants, tops, boy shorts and t-shirts with messages like “living life & loving it” and “do everything & love everyone.” Groups include “Electric Lady,” “Prairie” and “Madge,” and the collection will be manufactured in the United States and China.

Although Zipperer described the collection as having “playful personality,” she is not specifying a target customer.

“Like music, it is a dynamic and harmonious collection that appeals to a broad audience,” she said.
